Purchasing, Procurement & Inventory (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics)We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to join our Support Office team based in Mt Wellington. Reporting to the Head of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing, your key focus is the strategic overseeing of product categories in a manner that meets sales, supplier and customer needs.This is an exciting and varied role including relationship management with suppliers, managing cost reduction projects and working collaboratively with Purchasing Officers and network staff to plan and assist with forecasting. You will be required to continually negotiate to maintain and increase gross profit.Key to your success will be taking the initiative and displaying a "can-do" attitude to manage the various categories, your ability to establish effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as ensuring SLA's with our vendor base are well-managed.Our preferred candidate will show demonstrated success providing high levels of customer service. You'll bring strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, to build and maintain relationships with vendors, and between multiple departments across the business.SAP/Oracle proficiency and/or experience in category management in the building supply industry are highly advantageous.Key responsibilities in your role will include:Leverage our spend by tendering, negotiating and securing best supply agreements for our business.Develop and maintain category intelligence through constant evaluating, analysis and understanding of all components in category.Build and improve supplier performance through establishment of strong relationships with key contacts.Create early engagement with the business in complex sourcing activities, providing expertise in forecasting and sourcing products and services.Lead efficiencies to ensure contracts remain financially viable and delivered on budget.Identify internal and external cost drivers to understand our cost structure and leverage strategies where appropriate.Skills and experience:Strong analytical skills and financial acumen that enable decision making.Technical knowledge of products within the category with ability to absorb information to be well-informed of trends and product developments.Advanced negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management ability.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to present ideas effectively.Ability to think strategically and translate this thinking into measurable actions.Supply chain co-ordination – demonstrated experience in co-ordinating procurement, central buying, replenishment activities and supply chain optimisation nationally.Experience in supply chain co-ordination within a multi-site retail/trade environment.Demand planning – experience in using system driven demand planning and procurement along with proven ability to forecast demand based on Excel data.What we can offer:When you join our team we offer birthday leave, and after 3 months service, the opportunity to access holiday homes at affordable rates and subsidised healthcare.If you like the prospect of building strong relationships with our team and our awesome customers, then don't delay – come and join the team at Ideal!About Ideal Electrical Suppliers:For over 85 years the team at Ideal Electrical Suppliers have provided outstanding customer service and solutions to professionals in the electrical wholesaling industry.
