Casual Speech Language Therapist

Casual hours offered when required to help cover across Burwood Hospital site.
The role includes the assessment and management of a broad range of communication and swallowing difficulties within the context of Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation.
Experience in working with people with Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation needs is required, and any tracheostomy experience is welcomed.
Skills and experience in using Cough Reflex Testing and Videofluoroscopy are essential.
Experience in using dysphagia rehabilitation techniques such as BISSKiT and EMST would be advantageous.

The Speech Language Therapy role is embedded in the interdisciplinary team but benefits from having close professional support from colleagues across Burwood Hospital and other community teams. Our Speech Language Therapists provide skilled assessment, management, and rehabilitation of a broad range of swallowing and communication disorders. There is also involvement in the Videofluoroscopy service.
We are looking for a NZ Registered Speech Language Therapist to join our team!

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Providing comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and treatments in accordance with policies, procedures, and standards of practice for Speech Language Therapy.
Educating and providing resources to patients and their families/whanau, your clinical team, and colleagues in the interdisciplinary team.
Ensuring appropriate documentation and patient records are updated and maintained.
Contributing to quality service provision within the allocated wards, the Speech Language Therapy service, and the wider Burwood site.

Your skills will include:

Ability to complete thorough assessments and flexibly integrate interventions using problem solving and robust communication while being led by your client's goals.
Ability to use objective assessment tools, particularly Videofluoroscopy.
Ability to work within interdisciplinary teams across Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation.
Experience in working with patients with significant comorbidities would also be an advantage.
Registered with NZSTA.
