Casual Commis Chef - Christchurch
We are seeking a Casual Commis Chef to support a fast-paced kitchen environment. In this role, you will contribute to food preparation, ensure high culinary standards, and assist in delivering a smooth service.
Key Responsibilities: Prepare, cook, and deliver high-quality food, including operating the grill and fryer, while ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and overall food quality.Maintain consistently high standards of food quality and presentation.Assist less experienced kitchen staff during service and provide guidance on cooking techniques and in-house recipes.Follow detailed cooking instructions from senior kitchen staff.Ensure food offerings align with company branding and vision.Comply with all food hygiene, safety, and quality regulations, and help implement policies to maintain these standards.Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service, including adjusting dishes to accommodate dietary requirements.Manage kitchen stock and supplies, making orders in line with budget and company policies.Contribute to menu planning and development, ensuring financial targets and food cost frameworks are met.Complete daily ordering from suppliers when needed.Follow proper procedures for cleaning and closing the kitchen.Ensure accurate signing in and out, and correct recording of hours worked.Key Requirements: Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.Must be able to pass a drug test.Must disclose any criminal convictions.A minimum of 2 years of similar kitchen experience is required.A passion for cooking and providing exceptional food experiences.Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.Ability to thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment.Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.To apply call the team 0800 347 373 or send your cv to ******
