Mo te tunga | About the role You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of veterans and their whanau who receive entitlements and services funded by Veterans' Affairs, as part of New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF).
This role manages the relationships between veterans and Veterans' Affairs; providing access to entitlements, services and rehabilitation programs that meet the veteran's needs, and ensuring they are provided with accurate and up to date information.
As part of this key role, you will be: Undertaking needs assessments and determining outcomes while working with the rehabilitation team who are health professionals.
Working closely with your other Veterans' Affairs colleagues who also support veterans, rehabilitation advisors, treatment providers and service providers.
Developing veteran's rehabilitation plans providing a planned approach to achieve tangible outcomes, including elements of assessment and monitoring.
Providing exceptional customer services by handling each enquiry with warmth, compassion and sensitivity including cultural respect, and understanding through a number of communication channels.
This role is based in the Reserve Bank Building, Wellington CBD.
Once you have undergone training and are up to speed, there is the option of working from home up to two days a week.
There is occasional optional travel around NZ to attend Veterans' Forums.
As this is a fast-paced role, you will need effective time management and organisational skills to enable you to thrive in this dynamic changing busy environment.
With previous case management experience, you will have experience in undertaking needs assessments and can handle a diverse range of clients, including those with complex issues and a diverse range of needs with ease.
You will also have: Significant experience as a Case Manager, with at least 3-5 years' relevant experience providing excellent customer service or managing your own portfolio of clients.
Ideally a health/clinical and/or military background, with practical experience in vocational rehabilitation and an understanding of medical terminology.
Proven commitment, knowledge and experience of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles including health inequities.
Exceptional communication skills including verbal, written and listening, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across an organisation and customers.
Ability to apply sound judgement under pressure to determine the best outcome for all parties, while adhering to appropriate legislations and policies.
Ability to manage your work autonomously, while engaging with the wider case management and Veterans' Affairs teams.

At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last five (5) years.
You must have a five (5) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
If you do not meet the minimum criteria, unfortunately, your application will not be accepted.
