About the role:
Located in a rural setting, you will work in a close knit, friendly team, whilst providing safe, high-quality care for women and their whanau in planning to birth at our primary birthing unit, or at home
Provide antenatal and postnatal care to women who have given birth at Queen Mary Hospital in Dunedin, either by choice or by necessity
Collaborate with two other pairs in a flexible fortnightly rotating roster
Coordinate resources to meet identified needs, encompassing staff and equipment
Provide clinical and professional leadership
Ensure discharge planning/handover of care to a well child provider processes are robust and timely
Access to a vehicle and be provided with all equipment necessary to enable optimal care whilst on-call
About you:
It is essential that you are a NZ Registered Midwife and hold a current APC
Have a thorough understanding of case loading care in the Midwifery Council of NZ's Whanuitanga o Te Mahi /Scope of Practice
Be competent in the use of the Guidelines for Consultation with Obstetric and Related Services (Referral Guidelines)
Hold a current Full Drivers licence
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
