Queen's High School – South Dunedin, South Island To provide a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for students and staff by maintaining and managing the school premises, equipment, and facilities.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks Building Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of the school building, grounds, and facilities, identifying and addressing any maintenance issues.
Perform minor repairs, such as fixing leaks, changing light bulbs, and repairing furniture.
Coordinate major repairs and renovations with contractors and suppliers.
Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including WHS legislation and school policies.
Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
Implement safety measures, such as emergency procedures and first aid training.
Tag and test electrical equipment according to safety standards and regulations.
Ensure that all electrical equipment is safe for use and regularly maintained.
Grounds Maintenance: Maintain the school grounds, including lawns, gardens, and play areas.
Clean up litter and debris.
Ensure the safety and cleanliness of outdoor areas.
Cleaning: Clean and maintain school facilities.
Ensure that cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
Security: Secure the school premises during non-school hours.
Monitor access to the school and report any suspicious activity.
School Vehicles: Inspect and maintain school vehicles, ensuring they are safe and roadworthy.
Coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs with outside contractors.
Manage and coordinate the work of outside contractors on school premises.
Ensure that contractors adhere to school policies and procedures.
Work Hours Terms 1 & 4: 7:15am - 10:45am and 2:15pm- 6:30pm Terms 2 & 3: 7:00am - 11:00am and 2:00pm- 6:00pm 40 hours per week permanent full-time position 5 weeks annual leave Skills and Qualifications Strong mechanical and maintenance skills Knowledge of health and safety regulations Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good organizational and time management skills Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects Additional Requirements Current driver's license First Aid certification To attend the Caretakers Conference and working from heights course when required.
To attend any other Professional Development Courses as required.
