Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education New Zealand is a Specialist School for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students. We focus on growth, learning, and collaboration. You will be joining a nationwide team and will share their passion and enthusiasm for delivering high-quality education and services to DHH students and the whanau we support. We have 13 provisions (satellite teams) based in primary and secondary schools in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. We have 36 FTTE teaching staff with Teacher Aides, Educational Interpreters, and NZ Sign Language Tutors, supported by Ko Taku Reo's strong Corporate, Communications, and IT services.
THE ROLE / TE MAHI
The Careers/Study Guidance Lead is a leadership position that supports the Head of Enrolled School and/or Deputy Head of Enrolled School. This is a national role (based in either Christchurch or Auckland) and will require travel between Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. You will:
Be responsible for the development and delivery of the Transition Out of School Programme.
Lead and support the teaching of this programme specific to career education and guidance, transitioning out of school, and developing independence for students in the Enrolled School.
Liaise and collaborate with outside agencies and Tertiary services.
This role is part of a small group of middle leaders within the Enrolled School, collaborating to ensure a consistent national service for 13 provisions across the country.

We have study grants available, allowing you to complete post-graduate qualifications, taking you to the Q3+ salary scale. 0.2 release is provided while you are studying for 2 years.
You will have travel opportunities to meet other staff and students across the country.
