The echocardiography department at Wairau Hospital offers advanced equipment including the latest echocardiography machines, stress echo systems, and advanced imaging software. Our comprehensive service includes adult and pediatric echocardiography, providing critical diagnostic support across outpatients and inpatient and emergency settings. Wairau Hospital is committed to expanding its cardiac service, ensuring that the Marlborough community has access to timely, accurate cardiovascular care.

You will be joining a supportive and multidisciplinary team of highly trained sonographers and cardiology specialists. Our echocardiography service is committed to providing high-quality diagnostic services with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development to support patient care across the region.
As a Cardiac Sonographer, you will perform a wide range of diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures, including transthoracic, transoesophageal, and stress echocardiography. Your expertise will play a critical role in diagnosing and managing cardiovascular conditions. You will work alongside a team of skilled professionals in a friendly, patient-centred environment. There are opportunities for training, skill development, and career advancement.
You will work Monday to Friday, routine hours with no on-call. The full-time equivalent salary range for a Cardiac Sonographer working 80 hours a week is $113,551 to $128,546 (Step 1 to 5) based on the current APEX Sonographer Collective Agreement dependent on skills, experience, and registration in NZ.

The ideal applicant will:

Have either the DMU or QUT post-graduate qualification (or equivalent).
Hold full registration with the MRTB, and a current annual practising certificate in Cardiac Ultrasound.
Be able to provide fully comprehensive echo reports and have excellent technical skills and knowledge.
Be capable of working independently in a small team with a commitment to providing high standards of patient care.
Have strong communication and teamwork skills.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ work visa at the time of applying.
