Sanctuary Café is a community-focused, non-profit café under the umbrella of The Salvation Army. About the Role: We are looking for an experienced barista to work 15 hours per week, helping us deliver excellent customer service and high-quality coffee to our community. As a barista at Sanctuary Café, you will be responsible for making a range of coffee beverages, serving food, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the café. What will your responsibilities be: Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, ensuring consistency and quality. Operate and maintain the café's espresso machine and other coffee-making equipment. Provide friendly and efficient customer service, creating a welcoming environment. Assist with food preparation and serving as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café space, adhering to health and safety regulations. Handle cash, operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, and manage customer orders efficiently. Support the mission and values of The Salvation Army through your work. Other duties as directed by the Café Manager in line with the position/role outcomes, may be required. Our ideal candidate will: Commit to continued learning both formal and informal. Undertake professional development as agreed with line manager. Proven experience as a barista, with strong coffee-making skills. Excellent customer service and communication abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. A positive and team-oriented attitude. Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations. Flexibility to alter work hours, including mornings and occasional afternoon events. This role is Part-time and hours worked will be 15 hours per week. The starting salary for this role will be $20888 p/a. The starting hourly rate for this role will be $26 .
