The Company: Our client is a leading name in the New Zealand service industry and is renowned for its affordable and comprehensive waste and recycling services.
Catering to both commercial and residential customers, their offerings include essential waste collection, landfilling, extensive resource recovery, recycling operations, biofuel production, and composting initiatives.
They are a proudly 100% Kiwi owned company, with over 500 employees and 10 branches located across the North Island.
With four distinct brands, they have cultivated a customer-first culture that brings significant benefits to their local communities.
They believe their people are their greatest asset and are committed to the growth and development of their team through training and upskilling opportunities.
One of these opportunities is their Cadetship Programme , which has been designed to give motivated individuals looking for on-job training and a long-term career in a company where they can grow professionally.
The cadetship programme spans approximately two years and combines hands-on experience, where you will rotate through various departments of the business, gaining a holistic understanding of the waste management industry.
Key areas of focus include waste collection, recycling operations, landfill management, transportation, sales, customer service, environmental compliance, and sustainability initiatives.
The programme is designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the waste management industry and will be an extraordinary opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, grow, and be mentored by senior industry professionals.
Their aim is to develop well-rounded professionals who can work towards leadership positions in an area of the business that aligns with their personal strengths and interests.
This year there will be 3 cadetships offered: One in the Northland region, based in Whangarei, Kerikeri, or Kaitaia; one on Auckland's North Shore; and one in the Foxton or Wellington region.
About the Programme: Rotational Training: You will spend time in different divisions of the business, such as operations, dispatch, sales, and customer service, to gain insights and skills.
Each rotation is designed to provide practical experience and a thorough understanding of each department's role within the company.
Mentorship: You will be paired with a seasoned mentor who will provide guidance, support, and advice throughout the programme.
Professional Development: There will be focused training on how each department works, aiming to enhance both technical skills and soft skills.
Training will focus on industry best practices and prepare cadets for future leadership roles.
Professional training and Licenses: Cadets will have the opportunity to sit for their Class 2-4 licenses and can pursue other relevant certifications.
Project-Based Learning: Throughout the programme, cadets will be involved in key projects that address current challenges and innovations in the waste industry.
These projects will enable cadets to apply their learning, contribute to the company's success, and drive process improvements.
Career Pathways: Upon successful completion of the programme, cadets will have the opportunity to transition into full-time roles, possibly into leadership roles in an area that they are enthusiastic about.
What we are looking for: A genuine interest in developing a career in the waste management industry.
Ideally have a few years of working experience.
Enthusiastic with a 'can do' attitude.
Not afraid to get their hands dirty!
Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Communication skills that lead to efficient and effective teamwork.
Excellent problem-solving abilities.
A full license.
This is an awesome opportunity to take the first step towards a rewarding career in sustainable waste management.
It is a fascinating industry!
