C/C++ Software Engineer - Embedded Linux/Telematics Engineering - Software (Information & Communication Technology) Full time MTData is a leading provider of GPS tracking, Telematics and in-vehicle systems to the transport industry now a subsidiary of Telstra . Based in Mulgrave, Victoria, MTData operates across all states of Australia and New Zealand. To support our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced software engineer to join a small team assisting with various software design, development, and problem solving activities. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, results-oriented, and motivated to develop and deliver real software solutions. You must be capable of taking software components through conception, design, development, deployment, and optimisation. Reporting to the Embedded Software Team Leader, the successful candidate will be engaged in the following activities: Evolving and optimising existing embedded Linux software running on mobile devices serving a significant customer base Design and Development of new software and products Utilise modern software techniques to interact with devices and systems on-board, externally connected and in the cloud Evolve the automation testing, simulation and pipeline tools to improve CICD capability The successful candidate should possess at least the following skills/experience: Demonstrated track record of significant development work on commercial products Experienced in Linux embedded application development in C/C++ Degree qualified in computer science, engineering or related discipline Excellent verbal and written communication skills Australian permanent residency or be an Australian citizen The successful candidate would benefit from any knowledge or exposure to the following: Automation test frameworks V2X and IoT systems and devices IoT environment and protocols (MQTT, AMQP, COAP) AWS development APIs, tools and services Wireless communication technologies 4/5G, WiFi, Bluetooth including TLS and security Linux image construction, bootloaders, u-boot NVidia SOM Jetson and Orin families Experience with STL and libraries such as Boost, Poco Experience with interfacing to serial ports, USB, CAN, SPI, I2C Atlassian Suite, Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence Secure coding principles The successful applicant will possess a dedicated and flexible approach to work and enjoy working in a dynamic and challenging environment.
