We are looking for a Business Underwriter to manage and maintain property and reinsurance activities within the Commercial Underwriting and market pricing centre of excellence.
Your key responsibilities will include: Manage commercial business underwriting, including risk selection, referrals, submissions, and authorisations.
Lead and manage facultative reinsurance purchases, processes, systems, and placements.
Support distribution team in making informed underwriting decisions to achieve profitable growth.
Drive value for commercial customers and business partners, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
Promote teamwork within portfolio and product teams, and across Suncorp NZ, to leverage knowledge and maximise outcomes.
Foster a strong performance and risk management culture.
Develop distribution team members through effective feedback and training.
Contribute to commercial audits and quality assurance programs.
What you will need to succeed: 5 years industry experience in a commercial underwriting role Strong understanding of the NZ commercial sector Exemplary customer focus Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively resolve conflict Innovation skills, consultation, influencing and negotiation capability The ability to provide sound strategic advice and provide mentoring/coaching to others What we can offer you: Free life, salary continuance and trauma insurance cover.
