Business Manager - Partnerships & GrowthDo you want to lead collaborative partnerships with industry stakeholders and internal science leaders to deliver impactful research and development that makes a difference to New Zealand's food-based sectors?Contribute to the success and profitability of Plant & Food Research and our commercial partners by building relationships and effectively co-ordinating and supporting science research programmes to ensure delivery of R&D that creates impact.This role is aligned with PFR's world-renowned New Cultivar Systems approach to breeding globally successful varieties of premium crops.What you will be doing | Nga whainga matuaWith primary responsibility for the kiwiberry sector, and related key account management responsibilities, you will work to maximize R&D impact for designated customers and industry groups and generate revenue for PFR through:Maintaining effective industry and customer research relationships;Working with project leaders and customers to develop proposals and secure R&D projects, with appropriate work plans, budgets and contracts;Helping customers to identify and obtain external funding, or co-funding, to leverage their R&D investments.You will effectively co-ordinate and support the internal aspects of R&D activities, by providing budgeting, contracting and project management support to PFR science teams to ensure delivery of R&D outputs on time and within budgets. The mahi includes business case development and leading identification/development of new business opportunities and clients, in association with relevant internal stakeholders.Minimum Requirements:A tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor's degree) and experience in science, technology or engineering with significant experience in business, marketing or a related discipline OR a tertiary business or management degree with significant experience working in science or technology businesses.Proven business and commercial skills, including an established record of success in preparing funding proposals and managing science or technology development programs.Proven skills in customer relationship management, ideally within New Zealand's food, biological or horticultural industries.Knowledge of New Zealand's science and innovation system.Sound interpersonal skills for building strong customer relationships and negotiating new R&D contracts.The opportunity to work within a friendly, team-based environment at one of our key plant breeding sites: either Te Puke or Motueka.
