Continuing full-time 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE). Monday to Friday. Occasional work for shutdowns will be required outside of standard work hours. Au Mahi | What You Will Do
As a Building Controls System Engineer, you'll oversee the seamless operation of our key building services, working closely with Trades Supervisors, trades staff, and specialist contractors. Your responsibilities will include:

Managing and optimizing Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. Overseeing electrical systems related to mechanical operations, general electrical needs, advanced automated lighting controls, and boiler systems. Handling reticulated gases and refrigeration systems. You'll also provide expert management and maintenance of our control systems, including:

Building Management System (BMS) Boiler System In this role, you'll ensure the smooth operation of our campus-wide building management system and associated engineering software. This includes advanced Siemens Desigo engineering, sub-system engineering, and BACnet device management. Additionally, you'll develop intuitive graphical user interfaces for our control systems and energy management systems, enhancing usability and functionality.

Mou | Who You Are
You have recent experience programming building automation PLCs and a background in HVAC support, along with installation, maintenance, and engineering of building automation controls.

While we provide training, candidates should have hands-on experience with at least one or two of the following systems:

Programming and commissioning BMS controllers BACnet devices and other communication protocols KNX systems Boiler control systems operation Strong fault-finding skills and a proven ability to resolve complex issues logically are essential. Additionally, you should be able to read and interpret detailed plans and specifications and have a genuine enthusiasm for control technology.

You should be able to work well with others and translate technical terms into terms that non-experts can understand.

In this role, you'll interact with a wide range of university stakeholders. It's crucial that you can explain technical concepts in plain language, enjoy engaging with a diverse range of individuals, and communicate effectively.

You will be part of a four-person team, including a Building Controls Specialist, another Building Controls System Engineer, and a Building Controls Support Technician. Collaboration with various trade groups within the Facilities Management team is key.
