Job Description WM New Zealand has an excellent opportunity that has arisen for a high performing and commercially aware Branch Manager managing our resource recovery park, composting and landfill operation. The role will be based in the Thames/Paeroa area as this is central to our site with an office on site at Tirohia. The Coromandel Peninsula is nearby and is a place that offers hunting and fishing, diving, outdoor activities, and some of New Zealand's best beaches while being placed in the centre of the golden triangle of Auckland, Hamilton, and Tauranga. This role reports through to the Regional Manager – Eastern Waikato and is supported by a strong regional and corporate support network. The position responsibilities cover the full operational and financial management of all aspects of our business including leading a strong safety culture, environmental compliance, operational staff management and plant maintenance while meeting financial and growth targets and budgets and interacting with our large customer base including our council customers. Qualifications The person we are looking for must have a proven health and safety performance record and background demonstrating operational excellence to provide and maintain a safe and efficient workplace for our team and customers. Ideally, you will have had experience managing large civil works with a focus on environmental and consent compliance. Additional requirements: Key characteristics – honesty, integrity, ownership, and accountability Strong Civil engineering and/or environmental management qualifications and experience Project management experience A solid background in managing consents and compliance. Experience managing a small/medium-sized team including operational and support staff and contractors. Strong analytical and communications skills Ability to contribute within multiple levels of the business in both written and verbal settings. Ability to interpret the P&L with a strategic and growth focus. This is an opportunity for you to bring your own management style and take ownership of the business on a day-to-day basis with the great team that supports you along with the support of the operational managers and wider corporate team. Our Lower North Island team has a unique and supportive approach so whilst you will have a high level of autonomy, you will operate within a team environment alongside the other regional managers and senior team.
