We are seeking a motivated and adventurous boiler technician to join our maintenance team at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. This unique opportunity involves working in one of the most remote and challenging environments on Earth, assisting in maintaining and repairing boilers.
Boiler Technician Needed for Maintenance Project in Antarctica
Location: McMurdo Station, Antarctica (approximately 1000 residents in summer season)
Duration: November to March
Rate: $45-$50 per hour (WAGES) $55-$60 per hour (CONTRACTING)
Meals and accommodation provided
Medical and dental checks provided before departure
Flights, accommodation, food, tools, PPE provided
Experience of a lifetime working in Antarctica
The role:
Assist in performing routine maintenance and repairs on industrial boilers (ideally experience on oil-fired boilers)
Troubleshoot and resolve boiler issues promptly under supervision
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and regulations
Collaborate with other team members to support station operations
Requirements:
Proven boiler technician experience + references
NZ Certificate in Energy and Chemical Process Operations (Level 3) OR overseas equivalent
Ability to pass medical, dental, and background checks
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Willingness to work in extreme conditions and adapt to a unique living environment
