About the Role:
Marlborough Oysters is seeking a reliable and fit full-time crew member to join our team in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds. This role involves crewing on our boats and performing various tasks including deployment, flipping and harvesting on our oyster farms. Full training will be provided.
Location: Marlborough Sounds (Okiwi Bay), driving a company vehicle with crew to and from Blenheim.
Schedule: Full-time, 4 days per week (Monday through Thursday), 6:30 am to approximately 6:30 pm. Days can vary depending on the weather.
Responsibilities:
Assist with navigation, monitor weather conditions, and maintain accurate safety records.
Collaborate with the crew to perform tasks such as deploying, flipping, and harvesting oyster baskets using the FlipFarm system.
Ensure all safety regulations and protocols are followed, staying updated on regulatory requirements.
Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting clear and effective communication among crew members.
We're looking for someone with:
A strong commitment to safety, prioritising best practices and compliance with all relevant regulations.
Boating experience is desirable. A skipper ticket would be advantageous but is not a strict requirement.
Exceptional communication skills to engage clearly and constructively with the crew and wider team.
Willingness to receive and implement instructions and feedback, contributing to a cohesive and effective team.
Demonstrates honesty, reliability, and trustworthiness in all aspects of work.
Ability to work under pressure, maintaining high performance and adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Job Requirements:
Physical and mental fitness for hands-on, outdoor work.
Satisfactory completion of a CV Check, pre-employment drug test and physical medical assessment.
Legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
