Waitemata Community Law Centre – Waitakere, North IslandThe Waitemata Community Law Centre (WCLC) has governance vacancies on our volunteer Board.This is an opportunity for you to apply your specialist skills and experience at a governance level with an organisation that is committed to providing access to justice for those who are marginalised or disadvantaged in our community.We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:Finance/accountingWorking with Maori and/or Pacific Island communitiesHealth and SafetyHRLaw (including lawyers qualified to practice on own account)Candidates should also demonstrate experience or understanding of one or more of the following areas:Working with individuals and communities experiencing barriers to access to justice, including but not limited to Maori, Pasifika and migrant communities.Supporting the staff and operations of a community-based social justice organisation at a governance level.A commitment to the principles and application of tikanga Maori, Te Ao Maori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.About usWaitemata Community Law Centre is one of New Zealand's largest independent Community Law Centres. Turning 20 in 2025, we are in a growth phase, with an experienced new management team committed to expanding our reach and impact.Our catchment covers 400,000 Aucklanders in West, North-West and NorthWest Auckland as far north as Wellsford.Our team comprises lawyers and law clerks who provide free legal advice services from our Henderson offices and at outreach clinics and education sessions across Waitemata, supported by a small, experienced administration team.The Board meets once every six weeks.
