A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the School of Biosciences at the University of Kent. We are seeking to recruit a bioinformatician with an enthusiastic, problem-solving approach to join the Buscaino lab. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a project funded by the BBSRC, "Epigenetics of stress-induced genome instability in the human fungal pathogen Candida albicans." The work will use a combination of omics, RNA-Seq, and ChIP-Seq techniques and genetics to study chromatin-mediated regulation of genome instability in the human fungal pathogen Candida albicans. A PhD in Genetics, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related/equivalent subject is required prior to taking up this position. The anticipated project start date is June 2022 for a fixed period of 18 months. Responsibilities: Develop an independent approach to the research project in both the design and execution of the necessary experiments to deliver the specific aims of the grant. Maintain excellent lab notebooks to document all aspects of the work performed. Report on progress at lab meetings on a regular basis. Help supervise other lab members, e.g., MSc/PhD students, both technically and academically. Requirements: A PhD in Genetics, Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline (or to be in the final stages of obtaining such a qualification). Experience in bioinformatics. Able to summarise results and present the findings. Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate technical information. The School of Biosciences is a vibrant, stimulating, and welcoming environment for research and education within the Division of Natural Sciences. In REF2014, Bioscience at Kent was ranked 7th on the basis of 'research intensity', and the appointment of a range of new staff since 2014 has meant that research quantity and quality have risen still further. This is now an extremely active research environment. Please see the links below to view the full job description and to apply for this post.
