Full time work over the Summer Period Rewarding Work Monday-Friday We are looking for an experienced Commercial Beekeeper to join our team and take charge of caring for our large-scale bee colonies. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining hive health, optimizing honey production, and delivering professional pollination services. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic agricultural environment while supporting environmental sustainability through effective beekeeping practices.
Key Responsibilities : Bee Health Monitoring : Conduct regular hive inspections to assess the health of the bees. Ensure queen bees are productive, replace failing queens as necessary, and manage the breeding of new queens.
Record Keeping : Maintain detailed records of hive health, honey yields, and inventory levels. Document any treatments administered to hives, as well as any equipment maintenance or replacements.
Pest & Disease Management : Implement integrated pest management strategies to protect bee colonies from harmful pests and diseases. Remain up-to-date on the latest beekeeping practices and treatments.
Biosecurity Compliance : Ensure all practices adhere to local biosecurity and agricultural standards. Maintain cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination of hives, especially when working in multiple locations.
Requirements : Experience : At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience in commercial beekeeping.
Physical Ability : Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions. Must be able to lift and carry heavy beekeeping equipment (up to 25 kg) and stand for long periods.
Attention to Detail : Strong observational skills to detect changes in hive health and production. Ability to troubleshoot problems and implement effective solutions.
Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills for keeping detailed records and coordinating with pollination clients, farmers, and other team members.
Driving License : Valid driver's license is required
