This is a great opportunity to work on Waiheke Island and manage the Auckland Council owned Te Whare Noho Pekepikau o Waiheke Backpackers Hostel . You'll be able to lead and inspire a team of staff, and provide continuous improvement training, rostering, recruitment, and staff management.
Waiheke Backpackers Hostel is located above Onetangi Beach, offering stunning sea views and easy access to local arts, shops, and markets. Just a 40-minute ferry ride from Auckland, it's the perfect place to live and work, surrounded by beauty and adventure.
Due to the nature of this business, you will need to be rostered to work busy weekends and public holidays as well as having an afterhours on-call element, so flexibility will be vital. This is a 'hands on' role where you will be involved in the day-to-day staff management and business operations including maintenance and cleaning requirements.
In this dynamic role, you'll leverage your staff management experience from the hospitality or accommodation sector to engage with diverse people and drive success. You should be a natural influencer with excellent relationship building skills, leveraging key stakeholder relationships with local businesses, attractions and other operators or accommodation providers to generate growth and bookings.
We will be looking for:
At least 3+ years of experience in leading teams in hospitality and accommodation settings, skilled in maintaining high service standards and operational efficiency.
Working knowledge of financial management and the ability to generate growth and revenue.
The ability to use social media strategically as a marketing and advertising tool.
Experience with booking systems such as Ibex Seekom, SAP, and the MS Office Suite. Familiarity with OTAs like Hostelworld and Booking.com is highly desired.
