A unique opportunity has arisen for an Astronomy Guide - Bilingual Speaker / Kaiarahi who is a star gazer at heart and wants to share their passion for the southern night sky with our manuhiri (visitors).
Our world-class Astronomy Centre on Takapo lakefront brings to life the science of stars and Tatai aroraki (Maori astronomy) through an immersive and engaging international experience. This experience is a world-first and complements the range of outdoor experiences that we currently offer to our manuhiri visiting the region.
Our purpose is to make the connection - with our customers, through our people, to our place and to Ngai Tahu.

A little bit about youWe're after someone who has:
Previous astronomy guiding experience preferredA degree in Astronomy or related field preferred, or equivalent work experienceConfidence in public speaking and interacting with customers in a customer-facing roleFluent in English as well as at least one of the following languages: Mandarin, Japanese, Cantonese, SpanishA passion to learn and correctly pronounce reo Maori names and termsPassion, enthusiasm, drive, and energyA demonstrated desire to keep growing and learningCan work shifts on weekdays, weekends and public holidaysAnything could happen in a day - and we need someone who isn't afraid of a long and varied to-do list!
The successful applicant will have a strong affinity for the needs and aspirations of our ultimate stakeholders, Ngai Tahu whanui. Alongside this, they will have an understanding of, or an eagerness to learn and engage with our Ngai Tahu values. Ka tika!
