Our facility is unmatched within regional New Zealand, boasting a performance gym, aquatic centre, community gym, accommodation and sports hall, making it a popular destination with national sports organisations, having hosted the Black Ferns, NZ Rugby U20's, Black Sticks, Silver Ferns and NZ Cricket in the past 12 months.Our Te Turanga Athlete Development Programme is one of a handful of athlete development programmes within New Zealand and has a successful record in supporting high performance, pre high performance and regional athletes and teams to perform and develop in their sport.Our Associate Coaching programme has been running for 5 years, with all of our graduates to date having gone on to work full time as strength and conditioning coaches or in sports performance staff roles within a year of completing the associate programme. Recent graduates have found roles working within high performance programmes in sports such as netball, cricket and rowing. Other Coaches have gone on to full time employment within our facilities.The Associate Coaches will work with our Te Turanga Athlete Development and Education Outside the Classroom programmes, initially shadowing and eventually delivering to athletes and groups in this space. Goals of the Associate Programme:Offer education and upskilling in key aspects of strength and conditioning that will prepare you for full time roles in sports performanceProvide opportunities for practical coaching. This will come through working with diverse populations, from athletes to general populationProvide opportunities to lead group coaching sessionsStretch your skill set outside of the gym, developing your presenting, leadership and communication skillsWhat the Role Offers$5000 stipendCurriculum based learning designed to provide structure to your development whilst also being flexible to adapt to work towards your strengths, weaknesses and passionsThe curriculum will focus on topics such as but not limited to coaching practice, strength, speed, power, programming, energy system development and nutritionIndividual Performance Plan supportFull immersion within our working environment in the sports performance teamAdditional income opportunities through personal training and classes in the community gymAdditional professional development opportunities throughout the yearPreferred Qualifications and Experience:Working towards or completion of a bachelor's degree in sport science or related field OR proven work experience in Strength and ConditioningWillingness to pursue ASCA level 1 or 2 in near future Personal Attributes to be Successful in Role:Driven to learnEnergetic and enthusiastic about coaching and personal developmentAbility to commit to a minimum of 15 hours of work a week for a 10 month periodAthlete focused with a positive, can-do attitudePlease upload your CV and a Cover Letter.
