About the role: The Japanese Corporate & Investment Banking (JCIB) Department provides banking and financial services to support businesses of Japanese companies operating in Oceania. Our customer relationship is typically a part of a global relationship network originated in Japan. We provide our services to our customers not only to achieve their business goals in domestic markets but also to help integrate in their global growth. Our service includes lending, deposit, FX and other market and derivative products, banking transactions using an online platform, asset management, and import/export finance. In this role, you'll actively manage and pursue relationships with Japanese corporate clients for strategic benefit and revenue growth purposes within the Auckland Branch. You'll apply principle focus to account and revenue generation, risk management, and will actively lead structuring transactions. You'll also back up the support team maintaining strong credit portfolio management. You will join our team in a 13 month parental leave cover to commence in November 2024. What you'll be doing: Business Promotion: Analyse client needs and proactively promote MUFG products and services. Develop and implement an account plan for each client. Arrange client co-visits with Product Managers and/or supporting department. BSC Targets: Achieve BSC target goals, covering gross profit, net profit, cost reduction, NIM improvement etc. Relationship Management: Understand the client's businesses, products, strengths, weaknesses, market position, business flow and settlements. Lead communications with clients around transaction execution, documentation, KYC and day-to-day transactional requirements. Proactive communications with the clients around financial reporting and industry Q&A to support providing information to Analysts to prepare strong credit analysis. Monitor the business progress and financial status of the client. Respond quickly and accurately to customer demands and requests. Make customer visit schedules actively, client entertainment, and record/log customer visits. Make and report necessary memoranda relating to business development and new facilities. Communication & Documentation: Communicate and negotiate with customers, Primary Office, PO and Credit Division regarding the terms and conditions of pipeline transactions. Contact legal firms and/or legal department within the Bank, and make and check legal documents according to the terms and conditions under the credit approval. Partnerships & Collaboration: Develop strong networks within JCIB Oceania & APAC. Work closely to help foster a pro-active and inclusive team spirit within JCIB CBD Auckland. Educate, train and share customer information with Analysts. Liaise with Analysts to manage timely reporting and application approvals. Be trained in Analysts duties to be able to provide support in times of high volume or business compromised environments or high absenteeism. Portfolio Management & Credit Relationship: Build a strong relationship with client head office teams in Japan. Build trust with Credit Division through accurate and concise communication. Communicate with regional & planning functions on various deal screening requirements. Credit & Operations Stakeholders: Maintain strong relationships and communication channels with key stakeholders in Sydney across departments such as CMO, Operations, Global Markets, Settlements, Legal etc. What we are looking for: This is a fantastic opportunity for an analyst looking to move into a relationship manager role. As the successful candidate, you'll have 3–4 years' experience in Corporate Finance, Investment Banking or Chartered Accounting. Excellent client engagement and negotiation skills are a must. You're a self-starter, willing to get involved, and able to work under your own initiative to deliver fit for purpose and customer centric outcomes. You're highly organised, able to multitask and work autonomously and proactively. Strong attention to detail, accuracy and time management skills are essential. You'll have an undergraduate qualification in Economics, Finance, Accounting or Law, ideally with Chartered Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst or MBA qualifications.
