Details of the offer

Fast paced and rewarding retail role in pre-loved homewares store
Permanent full time (36 hours) position, working Tuesday to Saturday
Maximise retail income to help provide Hospice services to your community

Mou | For you
Our Harbour Hospice culture is built upon trust, connection, care and professional interactions that are delivered with our values at the core. Our values are more than words. They are the foundation of every interaction we have with patients, family, whanau, our community and each other. We welcome applications from all backgrounds who share our values of aroha (compassionate), tautikanga (professional), and mo te katoa (inclusive).
Your role as Assistant Retail Manager will give you a strong sense of purpose as you help connect the community with the care hospice provides. You'll contribute to raising a third of Harbour Hospice's annual funding needs. You'll enjoy an extremely busy and varied day and be able to inject your personality into all you do. You'll work with volunteers who freely give their time and energy, which will make for some very special and unique relationships. Best of all, you'll join an organisation where your work matters.
Mo te tunga | About the role
The Assistant Manager role in our Garage Sale Hospice shop at Warkworth is not for the faint hearted! It's physical and busy and you'll be on your feet and moving most of the day, lifting heavy items like sofas and tables, putting them out in the shop for sale, and keeping things tidy and attractive for customers. You'll also get out and about in the truck collecting donations and ferrying goods between our stores.
You'll help the manager with the overall running of the shop, ensuring a fantastic customer experience for donors, customers and volunteers alike. You'll get involved in everything from sorting to merchandising, to delegating, completing timesheets and cashing up, to ensuring the volunteers are having a break and a cuppa. As required and once fully trained, you'll also carry out electrical testing on donated items.
This is a permanent role working Tuesday - Friday 7:30am - 4pm, and Saturday 8:30am - 12:30pm (36 hours per week).
He korero mou| About you
You live and breathe great customer service. You take pride in your work and have high standards of presentation. Ideally you have a background in retail but most importantly, we want someone who builds relationships with people from all walks of life in a collaborative, open and positive way. You will also:

Have a clean full NZ driver license
Be physically fit and capable of moving and lifting heavy items
Have experience of, or willingness to be trained in, electrical testing
Demonstrate the ability to motivate and lead a team of dedicated volunteers
Be confident making decisions
