Jaba Grill and Bar is rated as Christchurch's number one steakhouse and has been successfully operating from its central CBD venue since 2018. We seat a range of guests from international visitors to local regulars, the head spend is high and therefore expectations of excellent service are too. We are looking for an Assistant Manager to lead and manage our Front of House operations alongside hands-on owner operators.Ideally you will have experience in a similar role, a passion for exceeding our diners expectations and great knowledge of food and beverages. We are looking for someone who has the enthusiasm that will inspire our small team of restaurant and beverage professionals.This is a hands-on role which requires leadership skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure whilst leading a busy restaurant and bar team to ensure exceptional service.The successful candidate will have experience as in a management role and responsibilities in a supervising position. We appreciate and value every one of our team members, and the person in this position will demonstrate true leadership skills by encouraging and supporting the team through their chosen career. This is a permanent full time role.In this role you will:Delegate tasks to restaurant staff and supervise their performanceMaintain a fully-stocked inventory and order front of house supplies, as needed and coordinate with suppliers.Maintain a stocked inventory while keeping costs to a minimumHelp staff resolve on-the-job challengesTrack daily costs and revenuesBalance the cash register at the end of the shiftEnsure client satisfaction and gracefully handle any complaintsOpen or close the restaurant (when responsible for the first or last shift)Report maintenance and training needsEnsure restaurant is tidy and clean at all timesRequirements3 years experience in F&B serviceA current Managers CertificatePrevious supervisor experience preferredExudes attentive, friendly and professional serviceExcellent wine, beer and cocktail knowledgeHighly organised and plans aheadCan work on a rotating roster 6 days a weekCandidates must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand to be considered for the role.
