At Hanmer Fish 'n' Chip Shop, we take pride in serving the freshest and most delicious fish and chips in town. Our dedication to high-quality ingredients and exceptional customer service has made us a local favourite. With the busy season coming and our plan to open for breakfast, we are looking for an Assistant Manager to run the shift and join our dedicated and passionate team. You will be in charge of the morning shift (starting 5am) and assist in the evening shift when required (until 9pm).
As an Assistant Manager you will be running the shift in charge of ensuring we provide excellent service and food. You'll be overall in charge responsible for the smooth operation of the shop and preparing our signature dishes. You will work in a fast-paced environment and be expected to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring that the shift run smoothly
Prepare the shop before opening
Ensuring that customers receive prompt and quality food and services
Responding to customer inquiries and complaints about food and service
Planning the weekly shift schedule and assigning staff specific tasks during the shift
Ensuring proper hygiene, safety and security procedures are followed by all staff
Participating in ordering of goods, stocktakes and assisting in putting away new stock
Support management with pricing of food and marketing
Plan new menus when needed
Operating cash registers, accepting payments and preparing sales invoices
Taking customer's food and beverage orders
Preparing, cooking and serving food and beverages for consumption on the premises and takeaway
Cleaning cafe equipment such as ice cream machine, deep fryer, etc
Clearing away used dishes and cutlery from tables when customers are finished.
Providing backup to other employees and assisting management in hiring, disciplining and training staff
Job pre-requisites:
Experience: 1 year retail or restaurant management experience.
Relevant kitchen experience is desired

Days Required: rostered 5 days a week can be split shift and including weekend Hours per week: 30 hours per week or more when required
