Te Kaupeka Ture | Faculty of Law invites applications for two fixed term, part-time (18.75 hours per week) positions of Kaiawhina Pukenga | Assistant Lecturer.
The Faculty is seeking applicants with expertise in the following areas:
Indigenous Peoples and Legal TheoryTreaty of Waitangi (in particular, Treaty Jurisprudence)Pacific Legal SystemsPacific people and the Law in Aotearoa New ZealandA successful candidate will want to develop expertise in Tikanga Maori and/or strong relationships with the Pacific community, and Law and Policy. A primary focus of the appointment is to develop teaching and research capability in the areas of Tikanga Maori and Law, Pacific communities and Law, and Indigenous Peoples and Legal Theory.
Mou | Who You Are
You will be a highly motivated law graduate, postgraduate, or practitioner who wishes to move into academia. As Kaiawhina Pukenga | Assistant Lecturer, you will ideally have some experience tutoring or leading workshops.
Applicants should have research level knowledge or practice experience in one or more of the specified areas, or a strong interest in gaining this. In addition, applicants should demonstrate a willingness to undertake an advanced qualification in Law during their appointment. A high-level understanding of tikanga and te reo Maori and/or strong connections to the Pacific communities and in-depth understanding of Pasifika culture is desirable. The applicant will show ability to work and teach in a way that is biculturally competent, will work well within diverse cultural environments and provide a positive contribution to the administration of the Faculty and the University more generally.
