Assistant Herd Manager – "Plant Your Career Seed Here" Job Description: Our stunning family-owned farm is situated on 465Ha of flat land and is located just 15 mins to Geraldine, only 20 minutes to Ashburton and a quick 25 mins to Methven. If on your days off you want to get away from the farm and enjoy some of the many activities in the area such as skiing, fishing, hunting, cafés, and shops, then this is the perfect location for you!

We milk our beautiful 1600 cows through a very high-tech 80 bail rotary that literally has all the bells and whistles. We are currently seeking a proactive Assistant Herd Manager to join our awesome team. Our team works on a 6/3 roster to maintain a good work-life balance. Our cows get milked twice a day, but our humans only milk once a day. We care about our people and our cows the most and strive to be the best employers we can be.

This is an ideal role for someone who is serious about growing their career, as we like to promote from within. If you have been a dairy farm assistant for the last couple of years and are looking to take that next step, we can provide you with training and experience to move up the ladder.

A full driver's license and the ability to ride 2- and 4-wheel motorbikes are essential. We are a drug-free farm; you must not have a criminal record. We often have team BBQs or go to the local pub for dinner together. We believe we are good payers, and a competitive base salary of between $65K to $70K p/a plus accommodation will be negotiated based on your experience.
