Assistant Director/ Senior Assistant Director, Biomedical Research Directorate Agency for Science, Technology and Research – Queenstown
The Biomedical Research Council (BMRC)'s mission is to advance the frontiers of bio-sciences and bio-innovations in strategic areas to improve human health and grow our economy. BMRC oversees the development of core research capabilities within A*STAR's research entities, and actively promotes translational and cross-disciplinary research, and human capital development in the area of health and biomedical sciences.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join the Planning Directorate in BMRC. You will coordinate initiatives with A*STAR's management, corporate group as well as the various entities in the research institutes. In addition, you will interact with other public agencies as well as academia and industry. The role will provide a unique perspective of the strategic priorities of the organisation as well as the broader public service. We take a deep interest in developing our team and there will be opportunities to grow into new roles within the wider A*STAR community, as well as the public sector.

Responsibilities
Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop relevant R&D policies and strategies that are aligned with Singapore's economic and national agenda.
Collaborate across the different divisions in A*STAR to formulate and implement agency-wide policies on resource governance (budget & space), incentive frameworks and strategic initiatives.
Lead and translate overarching strategies to key action plans for BMRC research entities to achieve impactful outcomes.
Support A*STAR and BMRC's senior management in key meeting platforms and their engagements with foreign research institutes, institutes of higher learning, and related government agencies.
Solve complex problems and track strategic and management issues across BMRC.
Manage reviews and drive improvements on BMRC's operations and processes.
Set, monitor and report performance and tracking indicators for BMRC and its research entities.
Perform divisional reporting and communications functions with stakeholders within A*STAR, governing and advisory boards, as well as other public agencies in the ecosystem.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology or any related disciplines. Postgraduate qualifications would be an advantage.
Working experience in either research, strategic/ corporate planning or related administration roles would be an advantage.
Good organisation acumen, excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage leadership, internal and external stakeholders as well as researchers.
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Dynamic and self-motivated individual who is a big-picture thinker and values integrity, teamwork and excellence.
Meticulous, well-organised, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.
High learning ability, agility and adaptability.
Previous experience in managing small teams would be a plus.
