About the roleReporting to the Nurse Manager, we are looking for an Assistant Care Manager for this full-time, permanent position. You will be responsible for supporting and leading the clinical team ensuring clinical excellence is at the forefront of everything we do. You may be a Senior Nurse in Aged Care with the right attitude wanting to step up. Based in Christchurch, Metlifecare The Village Palms has an excellent working environment with a beautiful modern Rest Home and Hospital. You will also need to be flexible to cover RN shifts as required and be available to share the 'On Call' with the team. Standard days of work are Sundays to Thursdays. Some of the great things you will be doing include: Using your clinical skills to assess and identify the needs of our residents to be able to formulate/review individual care plans. Ensure compassionate and excellent quality of care is provided to all residents. Develop lasting relationships with our residents and their families/whanau. Support the Nurse Manager to lead and manage a team of registered nurses, ensuring day-to-day high levels of clinical delivery and compliance with auditing requirements. Support, identify, and upskill the needs and requirements of the registered nurses and care workers, providing appropriate direction and delegation. Work and liaise closely with the Business Care Manager to undertake risk management, quality projects, and improvements. Support the 'Clinical On-Call' roster. In the absence of the Nurse Manager, pick up delegated management & financial duties such as approving time & attendance records for Payroll. About you Aged care experience with management or advanced clinical practice preferred. Current Annual Practicing certificate and First Aid Certificate. Current InterRai certification. Up-to-date knowledge on wound care. Demonstrates excellent leadership and communication skills. A helpful, team player attitude and a caring, respectful manner are important in our aged care environment.
