A perfect opportunity to become a trusted Assistant Business Accountant, providing excellent customer service and growing your career within our Management Accounting team here at MPI.
The role primarily provides management accounting advice to support budget managers complete their budget and forecast processes in an efficient and effective manner, consistent with our diverse range of business units across MPI. You will work closely alongside your colleagues and wider Finance Business Partnering teams to respond to the changing needs of the Ministry, performing other tasks as reasonably required.
You will, in time, develop an understanding of your business unit's operations so that reporting, budgeting, and forecasting is customer-focused and tells an accurate story behind the numbers that is easy to understand.
Mou - About You
You may have worked in a large complex organisation and have stakeholder engagement experience, and have full membership or working towards a membership of a professional accounting body.
To ensure you are successful in the role you will need to demonstrate:
Reliability with stakeholders, communicating clearly, building strong relationships while tactfully influencing to achieve best practice
Demonstrate strong written communication skills
Good understanding of accounting principles and practices
Experience in gathering, organising, and communicating financial information

This role is part of the Management Accounting team and reports to an easy-to-connect finance manager. This is a collegial team made up of Business Accountants and Assistant Business Accountants based in Wellington, who work closely together to share information and best practices to support budget managers.
