Assistant Accountant Role

Odyssey House has been working in drug and alcohol treatment and mental health support for nearly 40 years in Christchurch. Based in Burnside, we work from a busy site where people live in drug and alcohol treatment, and clients come on site all day long.
Reporting to our Finance Manager, experience working within a team is important, as although parts of this role are autonomous, we all need to pitch in and support the administration of a busy NGO.
In this role, you will be:
Completing a busy payroll monthly including journals
Assisting with end of month journals
Overseeing financial management of Donations and Vehicles
Supporting our residential services with their costings and budgets
Preparing GST returns
Invoicing our government funders
Reconciling credit cards and suspense accounts
Working on projects around our systems and processes
To be successful in the role, you will:
A qualified accountant (or working towards)
Be confident working with Microsoft and accounting packages
Have a high level of accuracy in what you do
Be able to communicate with a wide array of people
Want to work Mondays and Tuesdays (and be flexible around the rest of the week)
