Assistant Accountant

We're looking for someone with a can-do attitude, with experience in accounting-based roles or an accounting graduate, who can assist our Accountant in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. The role will also be responsible for updating and maintaining fixed assets and reconciling our financial and asset management systems.
This is an exciting opportunity right now, because the successful applicant will also be able to help implement a new core operating system, Datascape, which will be live mid-2025.

Minimum skills, experience and qualifications for the role:
Work experience in an accounting-based role, or a graduate from a suitable accounting qualification
Well-developed computer skills, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
Excellent communication skills, cultural awareness, and ability to handle ambiguity.
The role is for up to 40 hours per week – 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and based at the Kaikoura District Council offices, 96 West End, Kaikoura.
