Today, we're the industry's leading innovator, providing complete turnkey processing and packaging lines for a variety of food production including snacks, French fries, confectionery and more.This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week – 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. You will be reporting to the Accountant and be based at our Auckland branch.About the RoleThe Assistant Accountant will be responsible for providing comprehensive accounting and administrative support to the branch, ensuring the smooth management of financial processes and operational functions. This role will work closely with the Financial Accountant and involves managing full-function accounting processes and administrative tasks, and offering comprehensive assistance in financial reporting and inventory control, contributing to the effective functioning of the branch.Key ResponsibilitiesInvoice all spares and service sales orders that have been delivered and issue Invoice to customers.Invoice freight charges to all customers for the orders shipped.Match Supplier Invoices against delivery dockets and purchase orders and process in accounting system.Reconcile bank statements and prepare financial reports, including P&L statements and balance sheets.Perform payroll and leave management tasks, maintaining up-to-date and accurate records.Prepare PAYE and GST returns, ensuring compliance with local tax requirements and regulations.Prepare documents for submission to external accountant ensuring accuracy and compliance.Assist with year-end audit preparation, including gathering financial documents and responding to audit inquiries.Oversee office assets and inventory control, and conduct annual stock take in collaboration with the CSL team.Monitor office supplies and manage reordering to avoid shortages while controlling costs.Coordinate office maintenance and repairs, liaising with external vendors when necessary.Negotiate and manage utility contracts, securing favourable terms and ensuring timely payments.Organise and manage travel bookings for branch staff, including flights, accommodation, and transportation, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with travel policy.Provide general administrative support as needed to ensure the efficient operation of the branch.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in accounting and administrative processes.Other tasks and duties as reasonably requested.Desired Knowledge and ExperienceTertiary qualification in Accounting or a related field.Minimum 2-3 years' work experience in an accounting role.Success in coordinating administrative tasks, such as travel bookings, inventory control, and office maintenance.Exposure to food packaging and/or seafood industry.Proven ability to perform AP, AR, bank reconciliation, payroll and leave management, P&L and Balance sheet reconciliation preparation.Understanding of PAYE and GST filing requirements.Practical knowledge of preparation of reports for external Accountant.Administrative management functions incl. asset control, office maintenance, utility management, and office supplies.Proficient in accounting software, with specific experience in Dynamics AX and Smartly is essential.Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).Skills and AttributesExcellent organisational and multitasking abilities, with the capability to handle competing priorities.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial and administrative tasks.Able to execute and meet deadlines, ensuring & emphasising attention to detail.Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Able to work with minimal supervision, both independently and collaboratively within a team.Why work with us?Egalitarian company structure which empowers employees and nurtures leaders.Potential International mobility opportunities depending on vacancies.Professional and career development benefits and education investment.Birthday leave.Volunteering opportunities with the Nadia and Alf Taylor Foundation.Recognition program linked to health and lifestyle benefits.A company that truly values diversity.If you are interested in working with a highly talented team within a culture built on innovation, then email your resume and cover letter to ****** must have an eligible work visa in the region to apply for this position.Please note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
