As an Assistant Accountant, you'll be an integral member of our Finance team, working across multiple businesses and reporting directly to the Financial Controller. You'll collaborate closely with department managers and contribute to all facets of finance and accounting across the Group. Key Responsibilities: - Engage with all aspects of Finance & Accounting, including Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Weekly Payroll. - Support the Month-end and Year-end processes, including Balance Sheet reconciliation and Profit & Loss (P&L) reviews for multiple entities. - Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and process monthly Journals as required. - Assist in Cashflow management, Payment Processing, and Bank Reconciliation. - Contribute to IT upgrade and automation initiatives, driving process improvements. - Prepare statutory returns, including GST and PAYE. - Collaborate on future mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic projects. To excel in this role, you'll bring: - A Bachelor's degree in Accountancy in NZ and a pathway towards becoming a Chartered Accountant with CA ANZ (our organization is an ATO). - A solid foundation in AP and AR functions. - 2+ years of experience as an Assistant Accountant or 3-4 years in AP or Business analyst  - Experience in accurate data entry and administration, with a keen eye for detail—experience in Xero is preferred. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with confidence in Excel (including pivot tables). - A proactive, down-to-earth attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships. - Exposure to a product, manufacturing, or retail business, with knowledge of Stock Management and Job Costing. - Experience with Month-end processes, including Balance Sheet reconciliation and P&L variance commentary (preferred but not essential).
