We are working with a key client of ours at Madison to find them a superstar Assistant Accountant urgently for a 6-month contract role.
Based in an easily accessible part of Albany, our client is a privately owned Kiwi company who are market leaders in their space.
The role requires someone to be in the office 5 days per week.
Reporting to a charismatic and experienced CFO; this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the finance team with key accounting responsibilities, support month-end processes, and be involved in critical financial projects.
Key Responsibilities Include: Overseeing and assisting with Month-End close processesPerforming variance analysisBank, Balance Sheet, and P&L reconciliationGeneral Ledger (GL) journal postingMonitor and maintain Capex spend and Asset RegisterPrepare weekly, monthly reports, and board packsServe as a backup for Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR) rolesOversee payroll and HR-related tasksComplete the implementation of the HR systemEducate and manage team on Purchase Ordering systemManage and review tax calculations for FBT, GST, and provisional Income Tax Skills and Experience Required: Experience in month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysisStrong understanding of Capex, tax calculations (FBT, GST, provisional tax), and payrollExperience managing AP and AR functionsAdvanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting softwareStrong attention to detail and analytical thinkingThis is a great solution if you are not looking for permanent commitment or are just not finding the right permanent role in this flat market and want to take a contract role and come back onto the market next year when it picks up (and it will!).
