The opportunity - Lead our Protection and Automation Asset Planning team!
Based ideally in Wellington (however Christchurch and Auckland may be considered), you'll provide leadership across the organisation in how we plan and spend our investment resources to deliver for consumers and customer connections.
Leading a team of five planners who look after portfolios within Protection & Automation: secondary and substation automation assets, you'll oversee and integrate the regulatory control period RCP4 | Transpower envelope for the Protection and Automation asset portfolio.
This includes: Replacement and refurbishment base CAPEX budget of approximately $300m across each five-year RCP, Maintenance OPEX of $10m per annum (determined annually based on need), Enhancement and development base CAPEX of approximately $18m across each RCP.
You'll coach and mentor your team to ensure best whole of life outcomes across the portfolios, including portfolio cost and risk management, and consideration of cross-portfolio integration efficiencies.
You'll enjoy multifaceted, meaningful work as you: Lead and guide the development and integration across the portfolio and Transpower's wider investment plan, including capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX).
Implement and apply appropriate commercial, economic, and engineering decision frameworks to Asset Management plans within the portfolio.
Reduce service risk through targeted interventions in all portfolios.
Lead and guide change management and continuous improvement.
Implement new technology as required whilst maintaining a long-term asset management view.
You'll be pivotal to delivering some other exciting work too including supporting implementation of digital substations in green/brown fields environments, and support for and development of asset strategies.
As a member of our Asset Planning Group Leadership team, you'll support the Group Manager with leadership, development, and delivery of continuous improvement initiatives and training as the need arises.

To be shortlisted your CV, cover letter and career to date will demonstrate: Asset management competency and preferably external asset management endorsement through IAM, CPEng, or similar.
Experience and technical understanding of protection and automation assets within the energy industry.
Strength and experience in line management and people leadership and effecting change within and across teams.
Demonstrate ability to create productive networks across a business and influence decision making.
Outstanding ability to move and deliver between strategy and detail with ease.
