About the Team Transpower's Grid Development division works to identify grid needs for the next 30 years. The Asset Planning group of thirty-five people across six teams are responsible for the management of assets within specific asset portfolios. The group undertakes planning and support for Transpower's assets, from the implementation of asset strategies into asset management plans through ensuring the appropriate balance of cost, risk, and service.
As work volumes have increased, driven by customer investments, electrification development, and system resilience needs, it is increasingly important that we integrate our investment decision making across portfolios to ensure optimal choices are made regarding whole of life asset costs.
The Opportunity - A Newly Created Role Based ideally in Wellington (however Christchurch and Auckland may be considered), you'll provide leadership across the organisation in how we plan and spend our investment resources to deliver for consumers and customer connections.
Leading a team of five planners who look after portfolios within Protection & Automation: secondary and substation automation assets, you'll coordinate and integrate the regulatory control period RCP4 | Transpower envelope for the Protection and Automation asset portfolio.
Through your team, you will ensure best whole of life outcomes across the portfolios, including portfolio cost and risk management, and consideration of cross-portfolio integration efficiencies. You'll enjoy multifaceted, meaningful work as you:
Lead and guide the development and integration across the portfolio and Transpower's wider investment plan, including capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX).Implement and apply appropriate commercial, economic, and engineering decision frameworks to Asset Management plans within the portfolio.Drive continuous improvement and reduce service risk through targeted interventions in all portfolios.Implement new technology as required whilst maintaining a long-term asset management view.You will be pivotal to delivering some other exciting work too, including supporting implementation of digital substations in green/brown fields environments.
As a member of our Asset Planning Group Leadership team, you'll support the Group Manager with leadership, development, and delivery of continuous improvement initiatives and training as the need arises.
