You will play a crucial role in maintaining and upgrading these assets, ensuring the safety of our community from environmental hazards. Your expertise will guide the inspection, maintenance, design, and construction of critical infrastructure, making a lasting impact on the West Coast.With 23 Rating Districts under our care, your work will help safeguard communities, while also supporting emergency responses to natural hazards like flooding. As part of our Flood Impact Risk Specialist Team (FIRST), you will contribute your expertise to protect the region in times of need.This role comes with significant autonomy, allowing you to make important operational and financial decisions within the Council's enabling framework. Your work will be pivotal in achieving the Council's long-term goals.Key Responsibilities:Operations: Oversee asset inspections, maintenance, and repair programs, ensuring consistent performance and safety. Prepare reports, adjust work programs, and manage budgets efficiently.Capital Project Management: Lead the design, construction, and management of assigned capital works projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, timelines, and budgets.Asset Management: Conduct regular asset surveys, monitor performance, and contribute to maintaining up-to-date asset inventories, ensuring long-term asset sustainability.Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with internal teams, landowners, contractors, and community members, providing expert advice and ensuring smooth project delivery.Qualifications and Experience:Essential: Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related field; full driver's license; 10 years of relevant experience, including 5+ years managing construction works.Desirable: Chartered Professional Engineer, experience in local government and asset management.Skills and Attributes:Strong technical expertise in flood and coastal asset management.Excellent project management skills with a focus on safety and environmental outcomes.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders.A proactive, solution-oriented approach to managing complex projects.Why Join Us?At WCRC, we are committed to making the West Coast a safer, better place to live.
