Title: Applications Specialist (Software Tester)
Location: Christchurch, NZ (Hybrid working options available)
Our Department: Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) Working Pattern: 9 day fortnight
Are you an experienced Software Tester who's looking for more? How about a role where you'll work on cutting-edge embedded platforms, integrating multiple software applications and hardware components? Plus, our software powers heavy construction machinery, and you'll have the chance to see your work in action at our test site location. What You Will Do Working in a team, you will be involved in the specification, design, documentation, and execution of field testing of the machine control software and hardware. You will work closely with software and system engineers to ensure Trimble continues to provide high-quality products to the earth moving industry.
Operational Responsibilities: API, integration and system testing of products during development.Interpretation of high-level marketing requirements into detailed user-centric specifications suitable for development purposes.Create bug reports with detailed information and relevant supporting diagnostic information to allow the effective triaging and resolution of software issues.Creating and updating test and regression plans for new features or products or replacement products.Creating and updating manual functional and non-functional test cases.Developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts to optimise the testing process and reduce manual testing efforts.Continuous improvement of testing processes.Helping diagnose, troubleshoot and reproduce customer escalated cases.What Skills & Experience You Should Bring Minimum of 5 years experience in a relevant role, QA, Software Test Engineer or Software Engineer.ISTQB Certified Tester "Foundation Level"/"Advanced Level"/"Agile Tester" certification or equivalent certification is beneficial.An understanding of C++, Web or Android code is beneficial but not required.Experience with Auto Test writing, tools and framework. Curiosity and drive for continuous learning.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Strong problem-solving abilities with an analytical mindset and keen attention to detail.Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving work environment.Team-oriented, with a collaborative approach to achieving goals.Familiarity with Agile software development and a willingness to learn and grow in this methodology.Surveying, communications, civil construction or tech industry experience is beneficial but not required.About Your Location Based at our main campus in Christchurch, New Zealand, enjoy free parking, an onsite gym, an active social club, and a great team environment where people love working with leading technology solutions.

About Our CTCT Division The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning and control products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GPS, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance.
