A little bit about the role
We are looking for a Apparel Designer to join our team at our Support Office in Christchurch, the home of our brand. The Apparel Designer will work within the Kathmandu design team and with the Head of Design to create brand relevant, market right, sustainable Apparel for Kathmandu .
The role is Full Time and day to day responsibilities include;
Research, design and develop apparel range requirements on a seasonal and promotional basis in conjunction with the wider product design teams.
Design products and ranges that are developed in harmony with Kathmandu's direction and brand vision; that reflect the needs of Kathmandu's core customer groups utilising market research, concepts, prototypes, consumer insights and field testing.
Be part of the evolution of Kathmandu's Outdoor Active range segmentation helping to bring consumer centric design solutions to life.
Partner with wider design team to ensure Kathmandu Apparel ranges use of colour, trims and graphics drive desirability and are seasonally and category relevant.
Work collaboratively alongside cross-functional product team throughout product development process, from design concept to final product
What we are looking for
Proficient in Adobe Illustraton and Microsoft Office products
BA in Apparel Design / Fashion Design sportswear / outerwear technical outerwear construction preferred
Experience in the design and development of apparel products, including technical specifications.
Familiar with PLM systems
Strong anaytical and communication skills, including the ability to create presentation content and run effective meetings.
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Meticulous attention to detail
Have a clear understanding of consumer needs and competition within different market spaces.
Experience in designing Outdoor Active, and technical sportswear to become part of a growing area of the Product team and brand
