Come and join our engaged and motivated Strategy tima as a principal advisor for 6 months, specialising in communications. We need your innovative thinking and fresh perspective to support a broad range of kaupapa that is making a difference for our communities.
Based in Poneke, Wellington this role offers great variety to your day, where you could be working on internal or external communications plans, supporting the Manager, Strategy by leading and mentoring this small, energetic team and delivering our messaging.
The Principal Advisor, Communications provides advice and support to business partners, by developing and implementing communications plans that contribute to the enhancement of the Ministry's reputation with Maori, the Public Sector, Media and Government.
This is a broad and varied position that focuses on
Leadership. Act as the "go to" between business partner and specialist skills within the team. Support the Manager in actively training Senior Advisors and Advisors.
Communications strategy alignment . As a subject matter expert, driving our communications strategy in support of the Manager, Strategy and providing timely advice to Executive Leadership and Chief Executive to ensure key stakeholder messaging aligns.
Ministerial support. Lead the provision of high quality and timely speech writing services to the Minister and provide talking points for Ministers briefs.
Brand Promotion. Provide expert advice to the team to ensure high quality communications, both internally and externally. Including effective use of print media, media services and using social media and digital channels appropriately and effectively.
Risk management. Ensure significant communication risks are brought to the attention of the business partner and Manager in a timely manner.
The appointment range for this role is between $110,165 and $136,403 per annum and the salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.
This is a broad and varied communications position, and we are looking for someone with the energy, skills and acumen to match. You should
Have extensive experience in a Principal Advisor, Communications or similar position and can show significant experience working in the public service.
Be a subject matter expert who can confidently explain digital, print and other communications mediums to Executive Leadership.
Possess excellent oral and written skills with experience in speech writing, and editorial design and skill.
Proven experience managing complex and multiple relationships to take full advantage of the perspectives and expertise of stakeholders.
Strong understanding of te ao Maori and a degree of fluency in te reo Maori.
Experience in working with iwi, hapu, whanau, Maori organisations and Maori communities
