About the Role - Alcohol and Drug Clinician
We have a permanent position available within Te Ara Pai Service.


Te Ara Pai, our Alcohol and other Drug (AOD) Service works collaboratively with our Community Mental Health Service. Te Ara Pai offers specialised assessments, treatment and support tailored for individuals affected by alcohol and other drug issues. Our service delivers both group and individual AOD/Mental Health programmes, designed to address the unique needs of our whanaunga. A key component of our assessment process is the use of the Te Awa tool. This comprehensive assessment covers 13 domains, allowing our whanaunga to self-assess and guide their own recovery and wellbeing journey. This approach empowers whanaunga to direct their pathway, ensuring that our interventions are both effective and aligned with their personal goals. We value the close collaboration with the Community Mental Health Team and other internal and external services who are also committed to providing integrated and holistic care to our whanaunga.

Position details


Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm. Please note on occasions you may be required to work outside of these hours, depending on the support needs of whanaungaStarting from $80,000 - $90,000 per annum (depending of qualifications and experience, aligned with pay equity) A day in the role
Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify substance use issues, co-occurring mental health conditions, and other relevant factors using Te Awa as the assessment tool.Develop and implement individualised treatment plans based on assessment findings in collaboration with whanaunga goals.Provide individual and group counselling to whanaunga dealing with substance abuse and dependency.Facilitate relapse prevention strategies and support whanaunga in achieving and maintaining abstinence.Monitor and review whanaunga progress, adjusting treatment plans as required.Maintain accurate and confidential whanaunga records, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.Provide culturally sensitive and appropriate services, acknowledging and respecting the diverse backgrounds of whanaunga, including Maori and Pasifika communities.
