About the role
As an Animal Control Officer, you'll be working in a great team environment where everyone has a passion for the job, managing complaints that come through regarding dogs and stock, from initial enquiries through to managing and resolving complex and challenging cases. You will be able to prioritise your work volumes in order to achieve a satisfactory outcome for all involved.
You'll also be responsible for:

Property inspections for appropriate license requirements.
Following up unregistered dogs or carrying out house to house surveys to update dog registrations in the area.
Picking up dogs that have been found to return home or require impounding.
Attend to livestock that have wandered onto roads and ensure they are contained.
Deliver the 'Dog Smart' bite safe education program to schools and interested parties.
Upholding and applying the appropriate rules, regulations and legislation.

About you
Our ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who is comfortable contributing and working towards results in a group setting. Experience of handling animals is a key function of the role, and ongoing training will be provided to help you grow and succeed. You'll also be able to demonstrate an ability to manage conflict and have experience dealing with the public. Prior knowledge of the Animal Control Act is advantageous.
As an Animal Control Officer, you will also:

Hold a current clean driving license.
Have a high level of digital literacy adapting quickly within a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate your ability to multitask and prioritise work volumes.
Have excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to the audience and environment, as well as working with multi-agencies.
Experience in a local/central government environment is preferred.
