It is a large, secondary level, 400-bed accredited public facility providing acute and elective care for a region of over 176,000 people. The work of the Department is varied and often challenging.Hawke's Bay has experienced significant population growth and demographic changes over the last ten years. A wide range of surgical, medical, oncology and radiological services are offered and we have outgrown many of our facilities and now require considerable expansion.
