It is a large, secondary level, 400-bed accredited public facility providing acute and elective care for a region of over 176,000 people. The work of the Department is varied and often challenging.Hawke's Bay has experienced significant population growth and demographic changes over the last ten years. A wide range of surgical, medical, oncology and radiological services are offered and we have outgrown many of our facilities and now require considerable expansion. The next few years should be quite exciting!In addition, the private health care sector in Hawke's Bay is expanding rapidly, there are the opportunities for many health professionals to broaden their practice.
