Anaesthesia Consultant Opportunity In Hawkes Bay

Details of the offer

Fixed-term 1 Year or Permanent; full-time 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE) Hawke's Bayrequires the services of suitably qualified Anaesthetists to join our cohesive, friendly and mutually supportive team. These are great opportunities to enjoy work and anenviable lifestyle in the wonderfulHawke's Bay. The successful candidates would join a team of around 30 Anaesthetic Specialistsand it is anticipated that they would be able to enhance the Anaesthetic Department according to their training and experience, and would participate in the out-of-hours rota. We have a collegial attitude, have an active commitment to the ongoing education, teaching and support of junior medical staff, take an active role in interdisciplinary team education and we actively support and utilise specialist nurse roles as appropriate. The Department is approved by ANZCA for 2 years of Vocational Training in anaesthesia. We currently have 11 registrars. The Hospital is situated in Hastings on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It is a large, secondary level, 400-bed accredited public facility providing acute and elective care for a region of over 176,000 people. The work of the Department is varied and often challenging. Hawke's Bay has experienced significant population growth and demographic changes over the last 10 years and, while a wide range of surgical, medical, oncology and radiological services is offered, we have outgrown many of our facilities and now require considerable expansion. The next few years should be quite exciting! In addition, the private health sector in Hastings is expanding rapidly so the opportunities in the town for all health professionals, not just anaesthetists, are increasing accordingly. The successful applicants will possess either FANZCA or an equivalent qualification that would lead to specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and have an ongoing commitment to providing a top quality service to our community. We have no doubt that you would love everything Hawke's Bay has to offer: the stunning climate and beaches; the wide range of sporting and leisure opportunities; the art, wine, food and culture; and an environment and work/life balance that are second to none. If you are interested in this position, please apply online and attach an up to date copy of your CV for consideration stipulating whether you would like to apply for a 1 year fixed term or permanent role.
