Through our work in the community, we empower people to successfully re-integrate into society with renewed self-esteem, fostering independence.About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Team Leader to lead our Alcohol & Other Drugs Team here at the City Mission. A warm welcoming and empathetic manner, with good listening and communication skills and the genuine ability to get along with people from all walks of life is critical to your success in this role.As a key member of the City Mission Alcohol & Other Drugs Department, the Team Leader will make a vital contribution to the Mission, to our clients and to our community.Key FocusProven Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and empower others.Build on existing strengths of the service, developing ideas around group work and support initiatives from other agencies in line with the strategic direction of the sector.Complete comprehensive assessments and referrals to residential treatment providers.Maintain and build strong and resilient relationships both internally and externally.Training, Development and Health & Safety.This is a permanent, full-time role. The days and hours of work are Monday – Friday 8am – 4.30pm.About YouOur ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:Degree in Social Work or Alcohol & Drug Counselling is essential.Excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.Experience working alongside people with high and complex needs.Experience working in social services and/or related qualification preferred.Knowledge and commitment to ongoing training about Te Reo, and Tikanga Maori.The ability to work largely unsupervised and to be self-motivated, however also have the ability to work effectively as part of a co-operative and mutually supportive team.The ability to set and keep safe boundaries and recognize one's own limitations.Alignment with the ethics and values of the Christchurch City Mission, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.In return, we can offer you a rewarding role within a fun and supportive team environment, where no two days will be the same!
