About the Organisation The Personal Advocacy and Safeguarding Adults Trust (PASAT) is a registered charitable trust established in 1967. We work with and alongside adults with care and support needs to support their expression of will and preference and decision making and promote and protect their wellbeing and rights. Our Mission has three key elements: support, advocate, and encourage independence.
About the Role
PASAT is looking for someone to work part-time as an Advocate with our life members, who have disability care and support needs, who reside in the Hawke's Bay. The Advocate will visit each member quarterly, to:
Keep an eye on the member's general health and well-being; checking that education, work, accommodation and leisure activities are all going well.Check that the member can access to their money for day-to-day expenses and that any longer-term financial interests are being protected.Discuss any difficulties or issues that the member may need help withRaise and work through those issues with others involved, including service providers, to find a positive solutionSupport the member to self-advocate, or advocate with and on behalf of the member to ensure the best possible outcome. We are a paperless organisation and all staff are equipped with a laptop and mobile phone to allow them to remotely access our systems for communication and reporting.
The required hours of the role are 6 per fortnight and a maximum of 13 hours per month.

We are seeking applicants:
preferably with a background in advocacy, social work, or working with people with an intellectual disabilityable to travel to, and meet with members (and key people in their lives) using your own vehiclewith a full NZ driver's licence, clean Police record and legal entitlement to work in NZ, are essential.who are fully vaccinated and boosted for Covid-19
On appointment you will become part of an established team of Advocates and Safeguarding Adults Coordinators spread across New Zealand. You must be able to work independently and collaboratively, communicate confidently and in a timely manner, willing to undertake training, and be highly organised, in what is both challenging and highly rewarding work.
