The Opportunity:

This position is full-time, Monday to Friday, and we have positions in West and South Auckland. You will be offering services for Wahine and Tamariki requesting safety support for those who are experiencing or have experienced whanau violence with appropriate safety planning. You must have a full license as you will be required to drive around.

As an Advocacy Support Worker, some of your key areas of responsibility will include:

Providing support, advocacy, and referral to service, from a senior level, for wahine and their whanau who access service within the Refuge's service area.

Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships by ensuring mutual trust, privacy, and confidentiality.

Supporting tangata whaiora by way of transport to attend programmes and appointments when necessary and available.

Effectively assessing the situation using identified and appropriate methods of safe social work when working with all whanau.

Ensuring case notes are detailed and whanau plans are entered into the system and progress is monitored.

Ensuring women and children have food, clothing, finances, and legal support offered and arranged, when necessary, through approved means.

To be successful in this role:

A social worker qualification or 2+ years experience in a social service agency working with vulnerable whanau.

Experience working with whanau, hapu and Iwi.

Clear professional boundaries and a non-judgmental manner.

Ability to multi-task and deal with competing priorities.

Effective communication, both written and verbal.

Experience working in the community or within a social services setting supporting Maori and Pasifika whanau.

Must have a full driver's license as you will need to drive around.
